The first week with a baby rabbit is full of tiny breaths and quieter footsteps. I keep the room hushed, measure every draft, and let the rabbit baby learn the layout at their own pace.

Gentle nest setup

A low-sided box with a soft mat, hay pillow, and warm (not hot) bottle wrapped in cloth keeps the kit steady. I place it near a wall so the baby rabbit feels sheltered and can tuck into a corner without bumping whiskers.

Mini feeding rhythm

Small, frequent offers of timothy hay, a few soaked pellets, and fresh water in a shallow dish keep the gut moving. I avoid sweet treats and watch for steady chewing and calm pauses between bites.

Micro play windows

Three to five minutes of supervised exploring twice a day is enough. I lay down textured mats, keep obstacles low, and let the rabbit baby decide when to hop back to the nest.

Early safety checks

Warm ears, even breathing, and rounded (not bloated) bellies are my green lights. I track droppings, weigh once daily, and pause handling if the kit stiffens or tenses.
